Kaiki is sitting with an upturned wooden box with his shop’s slogan emblazoned on the front, dressed ever-so-formally in a vibrant Hawaiian shirt, green shades, and kaiki pants. He is drinking tea, which is frequently refilled by strange contraptions with faces no one can look upon. Everyone notices these doll-like servitors and some thank them for their services, but no one can discern much about them. Julius emerges not long afterwards in a flowy skirt, which no one comments upon. No words are said between the two until the sky is shorn apart by a bright, screeching light that appears to be yelling inarticulately as it falls to earth. The impact crater fortunately does not cause damage or upend anything, but it does produce a third party to this bizarre congregation, an enormous, aged Ork with multiple mechanical bits affixed to his body and a blue gear-shaped tattoo over his eye. Kaiki and Julius seem equally nonplussed. Kaiki exchanges some words with the massive creature, commenting on how normalcy is based in perspective and that he should probably abandon all of it here, to which the ork, called Gearface, agrees. Introductions are made between the three of them, which expands to four when a weathered bear-like man in very tribal garb introduces himself as Ferrum the Feral. Jokes are made about Gearface’s lack of parachute, to which he says that he hasn’t needed them before, and doesn’t need ‘em now. The ball-jointed servitor dolls gives Gearface a dictionary, as per his request. It’s wearing a maid outfit. Prompt service in this place, Kaiki thinks. Gearface thanks it, and it curtseys in response. Gearface analytically examines the dictionary presented to him for a few moments before he remembers he can’t read. Julius begins leaning on Kaiki, to which he states that he is not a scratching post. Julius mews. Kaiki remarks that he can’t tell whether Julius is a middle schooler, a god, or a cat. Julius mews again. Kaiki is dissastisfied.
Gearface suggests throwing him, as seeing if he then lands on his feet is the easiest way to make the determination whether he is a cat or not. Julius remarks that nobody has any droplets to sell, so businesses can’t be conducted yet. Gearface suggests waiting until it rains. Julius laughs. Conversation is had about the vials, with Julius cryptically and vaguely explaining their function. Gearface pronounces he doesn’t care. The other two concur. Gearface and Kaiki mutually appreciate each other’s business practices. Julius climbs onto Gearface’s shoulders. Ferrum appreciates his status as a stick in the mud. A black-purple blur sprints into view, radiating fighting spirit, showing like it’s going to attack gearface, but decides to give him a rapidly moving high five instead. The figure reveals itself to be a woman, young, thin but very solid and stocky in build with long dark hair and violet eyes. She exchanges upbeat pleasantries with gearface. Ryuuji calls Kaiki the purveyor of the box kingdom. He accepts this as flattery.
In Ferrum’s experience, people in boxes are always selling something. Kaiki agrees. Ryuuji and Gearface become immediate friends over high explosive ordinance, go into business together, and they also bash down a building to build a rickety shack out of the pieces in a different area. Kaiki sells Ryuuji and Gearface a giant umbrella he was keeping under his box. They approve. Much reconstruction occurs while Julius, Kaiki, and Ferrum observe. A newcomer with a soft kindly disposition but a dark aura emerges, with bright orange hair and pale, marble-like skin. He serves everyone coffee. Kaiki pronounces him the one he likes most, thus far. All drink and observe the two lunatics build a shop shack.
